Sometimes, you have to leave everything you know to find out what you’re made of.
Bri and Cole just packed up their lives. New city, new coast, new career. San Francisco is a long way from Buffalo. It’s a leap of faith. It’s a "starting fresh" kind of chapter.
But before they headed west, they brought everyone they love to a patch of green in Ontario wine country at the Hare Winery.
Niagara-on-the-Lake has this specific, slow-moving charm. It’s the kind of place where the light feels heavier, more golden. It was the perfect contrast to the fast-paced "newness" waiting for them in California.
I’ve been in a lot of rooms, but this one was different. It was warm.
Not just the temperature—though the sun was definitely showing off—but the human warmth. It was a room full of people who actually like each other. There was no stiff formality. Just jokes. Just stories. Just the kind of loud, easy laughter that only happens when you’ve known people for a lifetime.
I found myself listening to the toasts. They weren't just about Bri and Cole. They were about the people who came before them. There were so many stories about long-term love— parents who have weathered the storms.
I focused on the movement. The way Bri looks when she’s mid-joke. The way Cole watches her, knowing he’s about to build a whole new world with this person by his side.
I don’t care about the "perfect" composition. I care about the feeling of being there. The clink of the glasses, the smell of the vineyards, the weight of a hug from a friend you won't see for six months.
