There is a specific kind of rhythm to a family you’ve known for years. A shorthand. A shared language that doesn’t require many words.

For years, I’ve seen Sarah, Pavel, and Anastasia when Christmas lights were up. It’s been our tradition—a winter ritual of documenting another year gone by. But this year, the calendar flipped differently.

The world was green, the windows were open, and the light in their home had a brand-new weight to it.

Because this year, there was Leo.

There is a shift that happens when a family of three becomes a family of four. Watching Anastasia step into her role as a big sister is one of those "blink and you’ll miss it" magic tricks of childhood. One year she’s the baby in the Christmas photos; the next, she’s the one carefully touching a tiny toe, her world expanding in real-time.

And of course, the pack has grown, too. Their two Shiba Inus - One has been there since the beginning; the other joined the chaos somewhere along the way. They dart between legs, find the patches of sun on the hardwood, and remind us that a "home session" isn't about perfection. It’s about the beautiful, hairy, noisy reality of a life well-lived.

You can't pose a life this full.

Sarah, Pavel, Anastasia, and little Leo—thank you for letting me in, season after season.
